indian women were educatd in the vedic period. they used to select their own husbands in that period through swayamvar, or used to have live-in relationships. source : RC mujumdar's book on Vedic Age.

I'm not a liberal. I'm a wannabe anarchist. it means I reject all hierarchies, and hope to reject all material, social conditions that lead to hierarchies, including gender hierarchies. If I was born in a poor household, I would've been a card carrying antifa member, protesting everything in the capitalist society. anyway, society changes. It does so in spurts. First evolution, when society changes gradually.. certain ideas become popular, small groups trying their best to change the existing dominant structures. Then revolution, when these changes are rapid, and alters society in a fundamental way, replacing current dominant hierarchies with another.

 Your society (indian) has evolved too. Revolution is yet to hit it, though
