State lagged behind in implementing schemes: Kadiyam

Agreeing that the TRS government lagged behind in implementing double bedroom housing scheme and three-acre land scheme to SC and STs, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari however said that the government made rapid strides on several fronts.

Taking part in ‘Meet the Press’ programme organised by Warangal Press Club here on Sunday, he said there were ground-level problems for the two schemes. They would be revised and would be implemented more effectively after the elections, he said.

People should remember that the TRS government overcame many teething troubles. Within one year, it handled power crisis and focused more on farming sector. Be it providing free power, financial assistance to farmers, revision of land records and insurance or the grounding of several irrigation projects, the government did not leave any stone unturned, he said.

Mr. Srihari accused the Opposition parties of failing to play a responsible role. The Congress had moved courts to stall projects. The Opposition parties became a hurdle for the TRS government, he said.

True to the promise of providing employment, the TRS government brought a new industrial policy to promote industries. “We did extremely well on all fronts be it development or welfare programmes. The leaders from various States visited Hyderabad to learn from the TRS government,” he said.

Unlike in the past, every district got special attention of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and hence Warangal city got ₹300 crore every year for the past three years for development. Several works are underway and people would get to see the results very soon, he said.
