It isn’t a toy train.. but a compact one that runs on narrow gauge .. from Mettupalayam to Ooty .all the regular trains stop at Mettupalayam..& you can take this chook chook or go by road..you can spend three days .. botanical gardens.. pedal/boat ride in the lake.. there is a wildlife sanctuary close by that you can go to ..

Adding onto what Amrita mentioned..

if you can swim .. the cenotes on the trip to chcichen itza are quite enjoyable too.. went there over a Thanksgiving & it was fun ..

Mettupaluam to udgamandalam vuntadi ie train....it’s not you train but one of the last few running steam engine train...wooden interior vuntadi train ki...but it’s an experience.

a botanical gardens and all, chepalante time waste. Typical b-grade tourist places where people come, read, eat masala palli and drink tea, of course selfies too..

Wilife sanctuary vuntadi kani bunch of deers thapa emi kanipiyavu, waste..! 

But return lo drive from ooru to Bangalore, madhyalo bandipur forest vastadi and you can spot elephant herds here and if lucky, tigers and cheetahs too but commonmy elephants vuntayi
