One major achievement of his was the large scale decentralization of governance, setting up the Mandals, getting rid of the age old corrupt Karanam system. He reserved 50% of them for SC/ST/OBCs putting political power in their hands, and by holding elections, ensured power would not be concentrated with some families. He also abolished the Patel-Patwari system, in Telangana, another decaying corrupt, feudal structure.

In education, he bought in the EAMCET, a common entrance test for Medical and Engineering, and this ensured students would get into those courses on merit and ability, in the college of their choice. He also set up a chain of Residential Junior Colleges all over the state to provide quality education to students in rural, small town areas. In fact these colleges, have played a major role in the success story of many Telugu students in IIT, and other competitive engineering entrance examinations.

Another major achievement of his was to curb the communal riots in Hyderabad, during Ganesh Visarjan, a regular feature every year. He gave full rights to the police officers, cracked down on anti social elements and their political backers. Also set up a new commando force for the state to combat Naxalism, again AP’s success story in combating Naxalites was due to the groundwork he did.

Tirupati underwent a facelift during his time, bought in a computerized registration system, set up the Vaikuntam Q complex, provided amenities to many pilgrims. The Buddha Statue in Hussainsagar, and the statues of famous Telugu personalities on Tank Bund road were his contribution.

He set up the first medical university at Vijayawada, bringing in all the medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, under a single banner. And also the Padmavati Mahila Viswavidyalayam, the first women’s university in Andhra Pradesh.

I live in bilaspur cg and this is what my father and my grand father had to say about popularity of sr ntr that there friends were great fans of ntr acting even at the time when southern actors were relatively unknown .
• In his early part of his career and upto middle of his career from 50s to late 60s he immortalized the roles of lord ram and lord krishna by playing it on cinema. In his later part of his career he started playing roles more like antagonist and robin hood.
• For his contribution to indian cinema he was awarded with Padma Shri in 1968.
• He received three National Film Awards for co-producing Thodu Dongalu (1954) and Seetharama Kalyanam (1960) under National Art Theater, Madras,and directing Varakatnam (1970), NTR has received the erstwhile Rashtrapati Awards for his performance(s) in the films Raju Peda (1954) and Lava Kusa (1963).
• He garnered the Nandi Award for Best Actor for Kodalu Diddina Kapuram in 1970, and the Inaugural Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu in 1972 for Badi Panthulu.

NTR as politician :-

• After having a illustrious career in acting he enter politics. Many actors or film personalities have tried there hand in politics but most of them have failed. This person not only became a strong player in state politics but also became a major player in national politics.
• During early 80s when indian national congress had a near monopoly in indian political spectrum and Mrs Indira Gandhi was considered undefeatable he managed to create a national front a anti-congress block. A first of it’s kind coalition against main ruling party of india. which had political parties like Asom Gana Parishad of Assam and Indian Congress (Socialist) DMK, TDP, Left front and BJP giving external support.

  • He banned alcohol in his state.
  • He brought political reforms when in automotive sector when he allowed mahindra and mahindra and allwin motors to set there plants in andhra pradesh.

  • He created special commando force for elimination of naxals in andhra in form of greyhound.
  • He made the vizak steel plant into a profitable entity
• Though he had a political career of just 12 years but there were many political achievements which many politicians will not be able to achieve even in there entire life.
