Releasing our fighter trapped in Takistan??

if our fighter flights enter the Tak airspace, they will be shot down and the fighter will be killed. But now they are releasing him with respect. How different is that being captivated or in the plane... Am I missing here... then why did they shot the plane in the first place? I dont understand the logic here.
