Was in Chicago a few days ago with friends and saw a 6 year desi kid unable to communicate properly. Was told he was autistic and parents are going for speech therapy. Very bad situation for the parents tbh. You can see the frustration in their faces.

hi Bro.was he able to speak atleast some words?was he able to convey needs through hand gestures?

One of my frnd had same issues...Kid(4+ I guess) had speech delay and other minor issues. They moved to India and joined him for speech therapy there..last I heard was Kid started speaking small words and therapist told them to stay there for some more time as environment plays vital role in fast improvement and also told that they are getting kids with this kind of speech delay and other issues more from indian ppl living in abroad.

Hi Bro.any chance you can find the details of the speech therapist in Hyderabad?

pregnent women are exposed to more chemicals, stress here unlike India, may be they should go for genetic screening of the embryo and identify these defects before birth itself.

All these vitamin tablets given to them by doctors here. Surely they must be having an influence. Not to mention the food and milk which are laced with antibiotics and many other chemicals.

Speaks gibberish most of the time. Can’t convey his needs at all. Parents feed him when it is time and do other activities for him. Spends most of his time on the phone/iPad.

Autism lo kooda there are several levels. It's important to know what level the kids is.

Mild to Moderate Autism ki Usual gaa speech plus other therapies ippiste they will be ok by the time they are 7 to 8. Most of the Indian kids I have seen fall in that category. Ee kids ni till 90s diagnose chesevalle kadu because they catch up with time. Late talkers, introverts ani mudra vesi light teeskune vallu.. Some kids in this category are very intelligent.. Einstein, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk vellandariki mild autism undi ani antaru..Mild to Moderate kids late gaa matladataru like by 4 they will talk in words, 5 ki chinna chinna sentences, 6 to 7 ki fluent talking, so migata kids kante oka two yeas behind untaru but they catch up..

Severe Autism - Enni therapies cheyinchina kashtame...Idi chala takkuva mandi kids ki untundi.. Veellu 6 to 7 years vachina speech develop cheskoru.. Class room lo teacher instructions follow avva leru..

My cousin's son also was like that spending most of the time with ipad. Parents stopped giving ipad and the kid is atleast now able to convey needs through one word or hand gestures

Hi Friends,

Ma cousin vala 4 year old son ki  ki mild autism undi ani ikkada doctors evaluate chesi chepparu and they suggested speech and Behaviour therapies. The kid is mainly lacking speech and social skills. My cousins are in a dilemma whether to take him to India or stay in USA.They feel kids can improve speech and social skills better in India as there is much scope for social interactions in India compared to USA.They want to enroll him in a preschool in India. But they are also thinking that the kid might miss the therapies in US as therapies in India are not of same standard.Have you seen any such kids improving after going to India. Please share your thoughts

My kid has same problem..  will post more details tomorrow

I would suggest to enroll the kid in Speech and behavioral therapy in US ASAP.

The reasons are:
1. Even if the kid goes to India, the kid will have to come back to united states to live with the parents.  When he/she comes back he/she will be behind in learning English in comparison with other kids to attend the schools.  He/she will need special education to go to school here  to learn English.
2.  Speech therapy, behavioral therapy is not great in India.  Grandparents can pamper the kid instead of understanding the problem. Grandparents can be in denial because of social issues there and don't accept autism.
3.  Speech therapy and behavioral therapy is effective to treat mild to moderate autism. The kid will do well and by giving speech therapy in US kid will learn English, can go to school and continue speech therapy in school also.
4.  Sometimes the kid can do well on par with other kids or can exceed the other kids in terms of their speech, ability and learning capabilities once they go for speech and behavior therapy here.

Do not do the mistake of sending this kid to India.  The kid will struggle a lot once he or she comes back from India to accommodate and to learn english. It will be reinventing the circle and process coming back from India.

Speech and behavioral therapies are covered by most health insurances.

speech and behavioral are ok but how can they improve on social skils/interactions in US.In India social skills will be  easier to learn as there will be many people to interact
