Govt junior college. Everything else was private.

School type doesn’t really matter - it all depends on teachers and their dedication towards their job to teach and build students. I was a Math and English topper until 7th grade at a Christian missionary school due to great teachers. The Head Master himself, who was a Christian, used to teach us English out of his passion and used to punish with a CANE very harshly leaving severe BRUISES on the palms for lagging behind!! The worst part was - he would cane both hands - TWICE EACH!! Everyone who got caned by him would CRY literally in the first round. It may be illegal to punish kids like that now. He was like a terrorist to lethargic students.

But then I had to change the school and I wasn’t a math topper anymore - it took a nose dive as the new teacher's teaching style was disinteresting! Fortunately, the new school also had a great English teacher (Head Master again!) and I was able to maintain my topper status in that. Also, the new school had a cool Physics teacher which became my favorite subject.

I visited NIIT but their instructors were intimidated by my coding knowledge that I already had and said I could teach them instead. I then visited osData, Himayat Nagar (a McMillan division but the institute doesn’t seem to exist now) where I found a great instructor and there was no looking back - even though it was a new and an unknown institute.

In the US, if your kid is special/gifted, Government schools are the BEST “hands down” for all the abundant infrastructure and funding they have and the kid has access to. Private schools don’t have that kind of infrastructure or funding - most of them don’t even have full-blown libraries! Gifted kids at private schools would get frustrated easily and would not learn much and nothing much to challenge their talents and abilities.

For kindergarten, Montessori day cares are the best for all the freedom they offer to kids to do anything they want. Montessori => FREEDOM.

Agree.

There was a kid from Telugu medium who switched to our class in English medium in 8th grade (it was a big school with 2 media - Keshav Memorial High School - with English and Telugu for each class and also had Junior College, Degree College, Technology Institute, a Bank, a Theater, etc). He mastered grammar so quickly within a couple of weeks and was surprisingly going head-to-head with me showing how hard he was working. He took Special English as second language and went to special classes and extra tuition. Except for a bit of accent and difficulty with pronunciation of some words which took forever, he was quite alright on the subject.

Needless to say, he became a topper on all the subjects by the end of the year beating all others! So switching to English medium was spot-on for him and everyone was impressed.
