VIJAYAWADA: Against the backdrop of allegations of data theft, the official website of the Telugu Desam, www.telugudesam.org, was taken down on Thursday.

Anyone trying to access the website ran into a message which said, “You have requested a page on a website that is on the Cloudflare network. Cloudflare is currently unable to resolve your requested domain.”

The website used to have links to its online membership and the controversial Sevamitra application but these were taken down earlier this week following allegations that the app was using confidential government data.

The website shows a 1016 DNS error which indicates that Cloudflare is unable to send requests to the server because its origin IP cannot be resolved through DNS.

While the website going down was big news on social media, Internet users suspected that it had something to do with the Telangana police forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged data leak.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu refused to answer a question on this during a government press conference in the morning.

There was no official communication from the TD with regard to the shutdown.

The TD incharges of the website refused to comment.

A TD web expert said on condition of anonymity that the website had been taken down as it was facing data problems. It would be launched in a day or two with a new interface.
