Macy’s is shedding dozens of workers as it outsources the bulk of its technology help desk, The Post has learned.

The nation’s biggest department-store chain is downsizing a business unit that supports its IT systems, including laptops, point-of-sale devices, and sales reports, according to a source familiar with the unit’s work.

A person familiar with the move said that Macy’s is using NCR for these functions.

About 57 IT workers in New York will be laid off by June 9, according to a government filing, including 27 at the Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square.

The IT unit had recently employed several hundred workers across the country.

The layoffs are in addition to the 100 cuts among Macy’s senior management that were announced in February during its fourth quarter earnings report, a company spokesperson confirmed.

“We’re always looking at the best way to provide technology support to our company,” the retail giant said in a statement to The Post.

“Macy’s has made changes to outsource many Field Services organization functions. We are working closely with our external vendor to encourage impacted Macy’s colleagues to apply for the many new roles being created at as a result of this transition.”
