Best way to Pen Tool from a curved line to a straight line?

So I make graphics for my high school’s sports teams and I am completely self taught and love photoshop. I stumbled across these characters called “Tykes” and it basically is a cartoon character of a player / athlete. Lorem Ipsum The beginning step is to pen toil a border around the player. Temp Mail However it’s best to use the pen tool, 10 Minute Mail but I rarely use it because it’s to complicated.

So I start with a curved line but then when I want to switch to a straight line it keeps automatically going to a curved line. How do I tell photoshop that I want a straight line after a curve and not another curved line?
