afacc123
In an email received by Alex Rice, founder and CTO of HackerOne, an Oracle Java account manager states that a "non-publicly available, critical patch update for Java 8" would be released on April 16th 2019 and would only be available to customers if they have an active license. It then goes on to say that without these updates installed, it could leave "your server and desktop environment exposed and vulnerable." ekunadam_enkanna
Which CVEs this paid-for java 8 update would fix? Or is it some marketing garbage? If there are known vulnerabilities, openjdk will fix them. If there are unknown and unknowable vulnerabilities, it is another ORACLE scam. ekunadam_enkanna
"Critical Patch Update" is another phrase from the oracle database world. Oracle releases "critical patch updates" for their oracle database--every quarter or so. Now they are going use that phrase and abuse the meaning of "critical". Good luck to suckers.
