Hi friends,

my kid is India on x-1 multiple entry visa. When my parents went for OCI application they said they want dob Apostille. They also told that for my kid being on x-1 visa, there was no need for  registration at FRRO as well to stay beyond 6months in India.

Is that true. Can my kid stay in India beyond 6 months.

 Thanks in advance.

Yes. You dont need to any registration in FRRO But need need to  get the Apostille for OCI.  For  Appostille  requires  New DOB certificate(if the old DOB  issue date is more than one year).

What is the difference between now-PIO v/s OCI...

Bodi PIO ni permanent chesadu kada? If we have PIO already, is there a need to apply for OCI?

PIO is scrapped.. Now only OCI.

If you have a PIO you have to get it replaced with OCI. Last year deadline pettadu. Danni malla Mar 2019 varaku extend chesadu. Ippudemo Sep antunnadu.

Conversion of PIO card to OCI card

The Bureau of Immigration will accept PIO cards as valid travel document till 30th September, 2019, along with valid foreign passport. Indian Immigration Check Post(s) will continue to consider all PIO cards valid for exit/entry from/into India till 30th September, 2019. The extension of timeline is subject to the condition that in the meantime if any deadline is notified by the ICAO, thereby making hand written PIO cards invalid, then PIO cardholders would have to obtain appropriate visa from India Missions/Posts abroad. This situation will be further reviewed in September, 2019.

All PIO cardholders are meanwhile advised to convert their PIO cards to OCI cards well in time.

I think, you have to apply here or there. It will take time. Better to apply early. They may say PIO is already gone and do fresh everything.
