Crypto Losses (Tax Question)

Can you claim the Crypto losses in Tax returns? CPA says the losses should happen in 2018 or the stocks became worthless to be claimed. If anyone has claimed them, please let me know the process. Thanks.

ifyou have not sold them in 2018 you are toast.

Unfortunately I bought them in Dec 2017/Jan 2018 right before the crash but didn’t sell them in 2018  Still own them....

Not sure if they can be called worthless since some I bought at $5 are being traded for 20 Cents.
