Reason for cancellation is important AFAIK your chase insurance will not cover this situation , read your benefits carefully you will see something like this under what is not covered section

"Travel arrangements canceled or changed by a common carrier, tour operator or travel agency, unless the cancellation is the result of severe weather or an organized strike affecting public transportation"

if airline went bankrupt and not operating anymore you can claim insurance (benefit  sections will have a clause saying something like this under what is covered section )

"Financial insolvency of your travel agency, tour operator or travel supplier"

I am confused , you already used 3 legs and last canceled or you did not use at all and since 4th leg is cancelled , you asked for refund only for lon-hyd for which they are giving 620 back out of 1800?

Hi ,

Need some info/help regarding claiming travel insurance as my parents flight was cancelled by airlines for one leg.

They initial itinerary was multi trip HYD - LON - SLC  -- Traveled as per schedule.

Return ticket was multi trip too SLC- LON -HYD  - Break journey for a month and half in LON.

LON-HYD flight was cancelled and the only option they are providing is refund for SLC-LON_HYD flights. They are not even trying to put them into different flight with flex dates.

I bought these tickets for 1800$ per person and the refund they are giving is 620$  . Since it is peak time in june and july ippudu 1400$ around unnayi around same dates.  What can i do now?

I bought them through Chase sapphire preferred and they also have religare insurance. Should i take refund and buy new tickets and then call chase? Did anyone run into same situation? I appreciate your replies.

Thanks in advance.

if its british airways, You can claim under EU regulations no matter which ever segment it is flying...if the booking went thru british as it appears to be british, or Virgin, you can claim compensation.....no need to even pay insurance

Try and see if they will change India trip destination from London to mumbai or delhi and then buy del/bom to Hyderabad on a local carrier that will be cheaper.

Virgin pays 600 euros per segment for cancelled flight for reasons under the control of airline..

I received EU compensation of $1300 for Virgin Atlantic two months back for cancelled flight for one leg...from Vegas to LGW

We used only 2 legs MY parents want to travel as per schedule and dont want any changes to schedule. I didnt ask any refund they said LON-HYD is cancelled so they would have to cancel SLC-LON-HYD and give refund of 620$. Those dates ki now fligth tickets are 1400$.
