PG Medical seat reservation problems

As a patient, from which doctor you will prefer to get treated?

 Rank 500- Open Category Doctor?

Or

Rank 50,000- Reserved Category Doctor?

We are writing this not to defame anyone. In this article we like to explain the seat exploitation happening for open category students and gambling around it!

Leave about Government Jobs and all other fields. Medical field is one such department which requires more of knowledge based knowledge rather than reservation based knowledge.

Okay, let me come to that question which I raised in the beginning of the article. Which doctor you will opt to get treated from? the options were, Doctor with 500 Below rank or a doctor with 50,000 plus rank who got to get PG seat because of the reservation which a Open category doctor couldn’t get.

Obviously if any one of us get into a patient scenario, we would opt for knowledgeable doctor only. Whereas our system haven’t left us without any other option rather than opting to get treated by a doctor with 50,000+ Rank. He/She might get to pass the post graduation and might have learnt something but how far equal to an doctor with 500+ rank?

What we like to say is, why the reservation isn’t working fair on either sides?

Recently in Maharashtra State counselling, only 20% seats were left for open category. Moreover open category isn’t exclusive for open category, again competition will be from all categories. In such a case, throughout the state only 1 seat was left in MD Radiology for Open Category. This is not only the case with Maharastra, in every state the situation is same. Government is playing with the lives of common man with reservation based vote bank politics. Deserved aren’t deserving what they really deserve.

Even more shocking thing is, candidates can attend both National counselling and state counseling. If a candidate from Particular category attends both Counsellings and if he get seat in both the Counsellings, obviously he will opt the better one and he will leave anyone of the seat. Now what happens is, if a student from X category leaves that seat, only X category students can opt it and it won’t be open for other categories. Along with this that particular seat will be slashed to lower ranked students and will not be upgraded to the upper rank students.

Throughout India doctor’s have staged several protests, rallies and moments against government but nothing has helped them. The situation now is, Each medical student from open category has to study 2-4 years minimum to clear PG entrance after their MBBS.

Looking at the poor plite of doctors, government should reduce their Arrogancy over reservation based seat allotments in Medical field at the least.

I think reservation system should be tweaked to not compromise on the quality of the candidates.

Atleast on medicine. After MBBS, without reservation minimum of 3 attempts for OC's to get top branches in pg. How come quality can be expected

Same way how affirmative action works at all Universities. If you don't lower the cut off points by that extent, still get good candidates. If you don't find a reservation candidate for a given cut off, give it to someone else. If there are candidates, you can give seats to them.
