Vijayawada: Leaders of student unions, SFI and DYFI, together staged a protest in front of the corporate colleges which were conducting special classes during summer in violation of the Intermediate board norms, here on Thursday. They alleged that the Intermediate Board had taken bribe and not taking any action against the erring colleges. The student leaders squatted at Narayana and Sri Chaitanya  colleges, located at Chuttugunta and Maruthi Nagar.

The staff of these colleges told the protesters that they were conducting classes for slow learners, to help them prepare for the supplementary exams.

However, the union leaders alleged that the faculty members were bluffing them and that the colleges had already begun teaching the syllabus for the senior Intermediate students.

SFI state secretary K. Ramesh faulted the corporate colleges for caring a hoot to the orders of the Intermediate Board and continuing with their own plans. He also found fault with the Intermediate Board for not taking any action against these colleges so far.

SFI district secretary M. Someswara Rao stated said that the authorities concerned were not responding even when the student unions complained about the classes during summer vacation.

DYFI district secretary T. Praveen said that Board secretary B. Udaya Lakshmi released the orders not to conduct classes during summer vacation but the corporate colleges are taking the classes saying that they have taken permission from the Board. He demanded that the managements of these colleges make public the permission they had taken from the government.

SFI state president Ashok, joint secretaries Prasanna Kumar, Narasimha, Vijayawada leaders Rakesh, Sumanth and others were present.
