Lol never put all your eggs in the same basket. Savings lo yeste, ofcourse you're losing money, because you're not even making enough to counter inflation. Use the 4% rule to determine how much you need to retire depending on how much you think you will use per year and how much return on investment you expect.

If you are careful enough with your investments, you will get alteast 4% and if you know what you're doing you will get 7%.

The question is - how many people have a balanced life and things happening in a timely manner in their lives? Some can't get married before 30 years age. Some are surrounded by useless/unproductive people who waste and suck away others' lives and for some others, their life is not in their control due to various responsibilities, commitments, liabilities, etc. The very successful people are mostly too old and not young (with a few exceptions like Zuckerberg who got lucky).
