rationality comes into the play when one has a choice; that's why there is even a theory called "choice theory" to explain rational actions. When one does not have a choice, you go with the flow. Right now, girls have more choices than girls do. Then, there is an illusion of choices for both girls and guys--esp educated and working. For a factory worker or a camp labor guy in India, she/he would get married by 23; parents just pick the partner, and call bajantries for marriage.
