Agree. When work is made for hire, its copyrights belong to the employer. Here, it is the movie producer or most probably, the music distribution company. Not sure how his contracts were written or maybe he is taking advantage of poor IP enforcement in India by litigating matters.

In India, when a song becomes a hit, it’s music director gets a lot of fame which should be a good enough earning of respect for him and continued demand for his work. In the west, the fame goes solely to the singer because most singers write the lyrics too (and some of them dance in the videos) and music composer’s name is not even heard. But still, singers in the west make pennies from record labels who own the rights.

Vijaya Nirmala (Krishna’s wife) as movie director used to hire only Ramesh Naidu in all her movies to compose music. She is smart and her movies were also great.

To be honest the intellectual property of a song belongs to the producer, music director and the lyricist in the Indian music context. That's because unlike in the West where the composer is the one that likes the lyrics apart from performing it, here the music director solely composes the tune. 

So for IR to expect that he owns the songs, daane grudda balupu antaru. So he needs to tone down being the massive asshole that he is, and realize that without those producers giving him the money to compose his tunes and the lyricists who write the tunes not to mention the playback singers who sing them, his tunes wouldn't be as popular as they are now.
