that is not hte real reason. Hongkong is a very tiny strip of land, size of amalampuram. Those who want freedom sold everything in china and escaped to taiwan, hongkong, macau ...

in 1997 british gave hongkong back to china, but hongkong maintained its freedom and liberty. While china slowly converted hongkong to communist china,

hongkong has had enough, this is their last chance at freedom

It is still under independent regime for 50 years which will end sometime 2047 and then it will be merged into Mainland China depending on the political climate

The Joint Declaration guarantees the Basic Law for 50 years after the transfer of sovereignty.[76] It does not specify how Hong Kong will be governed after 2047, and the central government's role in determining the territory's future system of government is the subject of political debate and speculation. Hong Kong's political and judicial systems may be reintegrated with China's at that time, or the territory may continue to be administered separately.

Is it?

I heard different version... there is a hongkong couple went Taiwan, and bf killed gf in Taiwan and returned back to Hongkong...

He didn’t get punished because the crime happened in Taiwan and Hongkong and Taiwan doesn’t have any extradition pact...

and if they want to make one they need China permission...but China has issues with Taiwan...

In this whole story that bf didn’t get punished and Hongkongers can’t digest seeking permission for China

this is is what I heard...

Internal movement, all these issues are just igniting factors to show the frustration.
