Easy if there is a mutual consent. You can get it in 30 days in the state of Nevada. In other states, there is a waiting period: for instance, 6 months in Calif even if there is a mutual consent.

If there is no mutual consent, if you know where your spouse lives, you need to serve her papers.

If you don't know where your spouse lives (and hence, you can't serve her papers), you need to follow "divorce by publication".

No kids, not much  joint property (money, shares, homes, just two cars), things are easy.

With kids, a long marriage: child support,  alimony if the spouse makes less money, etc are expected.

Even though divorce, alimony, and child support are separate, all these issued are combined together.

if you think that India can't recognize foreign divorces, why should other countries should respect its birth certificates, marriage certs, divorce decrees? This is ridiculous to suggest that one should get divorce in the states and India simultaneously.

The real problem lies elsewhere: "bad faith" divorces. If there is a mutual consent, there is no bad faith, as both parties live in the states and sign the papers. If there is no mutual consent, divorce papers should be served to the spouse: here, the court demands a proof of serving papers (one can hire sheriff to serve papers, and that sheriff can sign under the penalty of perjury that the spouse is served). Once papers are served, the spouse should send her response.

Problematic cases:  when the spouse lives in India, our hero gets an ex parte divorce in USA (that is, "divorce by publication", saying that our hero doesn't know the whereabouts of his spouse,  and that he serves the divorce papers on a news paper). Even though this divorce is valid in the states and other countries, that spouse in India can contest this divorce in local courts there. Why worry, unless this hero is filthy rich in India? if he is filthy rich, why is he in the states?
