If there is no mutual consent, if you know where your spouse lives, you need to serve her papers.

If you don't know where your spouse lives (and hence, you can't serve her papers), you need to follow "divorce by publication".

No kids, not much  joint property (money, shares, homes, just two cars), things are easy. 

With kids, a long marriage: child support,  alimony if the spouse makes less money, etc are expected.

Even though divorce, alimony, and child support are separate, all these issued are combined together.
