Bollywood is fake Tollywood Bahubali isn't: Bollywood national Indian subcontinent industry with Tollywood Tollywood is regional cinema making best movies than any other Asia movies, that's the Power of Telugus, Bollywood doesn't belong to North, from Rahman to Sunil Shetty, from Deepika Padukone to Kabir singh director all are south now we are only talking about state vs continent, a regional state from that continent is making much better movies

A1 CM chesinanduku

topic is diverted

i am saying now telugu film industry is biggest bollywood in first half of the year has only 1 hit where as tollywood has many hits

Our Telugu films are being remade all over the country and this year too, some great films have been made in Tollywood. We have exactly reached the halftime of the year and it is that time to figure out what clicked and flopped in these last six months.

Films which clicked (in release order)

F2 - Blockbuster (Rs 80 Cr)

The simple and clean comedy starring Venkatesh and Varun Tej became a sensation of sorts with the family audience. Out of all the Sankranthi releases this year, ‘F2’ was the biggest hit as it made over Rs 80 Cr bringing Venkatesh back in the game. The film also gave director Anil Ravipudi superstardom as he got a chance to direct Mahesh Babu.

Yatra - Average

‘Yatra’ was the surprise success of the year. Many thought that the film was a propaganda film for YSRCP party. But the manner in which director Mahi Raghav narrated the film in an emotional manner, the film won the hearts of many. The film was an average grosser at the box office and made the makers safe.

118 - Hit

Kalyan Ram, who was struggling hard for success finally made it with ‘118’ which was a decent hit at the box office. The suspense thriller worked for Kalyan Ram and the film's producer Mahesh Koneru as the film saw good profits. Nivetha Thomas was lauded for her emotional performance in the film.

Lakshmi's NTR - Break-even

So much was said about this film which was based on the controversial life of senior NTR. RGV tried hard to release it in AP but that could not happen. Even though the film released all over elsewhere, it attracted a decent audience. As the film was made with newcomers and low budget the film brought back all the investment and saw handsome profits making it a hit film this year.

Majili - Blockbuster

The combination of Samantha and Naga Chaitanya Akkineni worked big time as ‘Majili’ was a super hit at the box office. The family drama saw handsome profits and made solid money marking the comeback of Chay after two back to back flops. Samantha's performance, in particular, was highly appreciated.

Chitralahari - Average

Not many gave this film a chance but the film turned out to be a decent fare at the box office. Sai Dharam got a life with this film which was made and sold on a very low budget. The decent talk and sympathy factor worked out well for this film as it became a safe bet for the makers.

Jersey - Hit

Jersey was also a comeback vehicle for Nani as he gave a hit after two back to back flops. His performance won a lot of critical acclaim. The film did well at the box office but did not collect that kind of money for the talk it got. Gautam Tinnanuri took himself to the next level which is one of the first sports drama in Tollywood.

Maharshi – Blockbuster (Rs 100 +Cr)

There was so much pressure for Mahesh to deliver with Maharshi and finally the film delivered. The social theme worked well with the masses and in the interiors of AP. Though there was so much heard and say about the film's collections, the film became a safe bet for the makers and crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office.

Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya - Average

‘Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya’ was made on a really tight budget. The film is still playing in theaters. As the film has a new hero, the collections are slow but as the film has no competition it has turned out to be a hit project for the makers.

Other movies

‘Brochevarevura’ which released last Friday has taken good start. ‘Taapsee’s ‘Game Over’ did not see superb collections but it was a safe bet as it was released in three languages. The satellite, digital and streaming rights brought good money for the makers.

Prominent films that bombed

NTR Biopic Movies

Made in two parts, no one imagined that ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ and ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’ would turn out to be such disasters at the box office. The two parts even failed to collect Rs 10 crores which was a shame for a hero like Balakrishna who made a biopic on his dad NTR with great hope. Undoubtedly, NTR biopic is one of the biggest flops in Tollywood.

Vinaya Vidheya Rama

Ram Charan was high with the success of ‘Rangasthalam’ and many had pinned hopes on the Boyapati narration. But the star director took the audience for a ride and made the film in such a silly manner that the producer, Danayya lost crores of money making it the biggest flop in Charan's career.

Mr. Majnu

Mr. Majnu won good reviews but sadly, Akhil could not attract the audience to the theaters. The film which was sold for high prices was let down by weak collections giving yet another flop for Akhil.

ABCD

Allu Sirish tried hard to promote his film ABCD but the outcome of the film was so bad that the makers could not get away from losses.

Sita

Kajal got to play the boss lady in this Teja directed film which had Bellamkonda Sreenivas as the hero. But the 90's narration of Teja made this film go downhill and gave another flop to Bellamkonda junior. The makers also lost big money on this project.

Falaknuma Das

This film created much sensation and the makers cried a lot of foul in front of the media. They said that the film was doing good in the Nizam area but the fact of the matter is that the film was a below average fare which flopped in other parts of the Telugu states.

More than the hits, many films ended up as losses disappointing many. But Telugu cinema is a place where things keep happening. Rest of the year is filled with good films like ‘Dear Comrade’, ‘Saaho’, ‘Gang Leader’, ‘Manmadhudu 2’ and ‘Sye Raa’, Let's hope that these films bring name and money for all those involved.
