Aathcare....iPhone manufacturing cost 130 USD only...rest is marketing cost

Maybe or maybe not (considering the cost of R&D, patents, legal, overheads, etc), but that’s not the point.

70% of Apple’s revenue is from iPhone sales and US is the top country making those sales followed by China, Europe, Japan and rest of the world -

If Americans want to continue to buy iPhones, they need their minimum wages tripled to afford them at the cost of American manufacturing. American workers will not produce iPhones while getting paid just $2.50 an hour and making only $400 a month like the workers at Foxconn in China do. There is a reason why companies moved their business outside the US.

But because a store clerk makes $10 an hour and his supervisor makes $12-$15 an hour, if the store clerk’s wages are increased to $30 an hour, the supervisors end up making less than their subordinate clerks. And so, they need to triple the wages of everyone in the chain. Is that even possible?

iPhone is just one example for argument’s sake but it applies to everything we buy and use in daily life that we are able to afford at our salaries because virtually EVERYTHING is made in China - directly or indirectly.

The point is - there is NO alternative to China or their manufacturing scale, sadly. A catastrophic disaster in China would devastate the ENTIRE world because there is no backup plan!!

Arrogance at its peaks and displaying fake confidence - he thinks it is possible to take China out of the equation overnight and be on our own by just pressing a button!

Nike pays less than 60 cents an hour to workers in Vietnam and spends less than $10 for every pair of $100-plus shoes it sells in the US. Americans made only 1 percent of the value of Nike products that generated the corporation's $27.8 billion revenue in 2014.

If you watch Shark Tank TV show, a $100 physical product actually costs only $10 to $12 to make it -

Manufacturer marks it up 4X to 5X and sells it to retailer => $50 (without 5X profit, investors won’t even show interest)

Retailer marks it up by 2X or 100%  => $100 price to the end consumer

The numbers add up and that is exactly what Nike is doing - make products at $10 and sell for $100+

https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/blog/threads_and_laces/2014/05/how-much-do-nike-contract-factory-workers-get-paid.html

If a pair of shoes cost $100 to manufacture in the US, they will cost the customer $1000 to buy from the retailer going by the above math and business models! How many people can afford $1000 shoes? At that cost, people would rather make their own shoes or stop wearing them. That’s just an example of shoes - what about clothes? Can people not wear clothes and not eat food? What about ALL other essential items that we use in daily life costing 10X overnight?

(Online website services cost pennies to offer but can have over 90% profit margins with no manufacturing, logistics, retailing, etc. and they can sell as many copies/licenses as needed without lifting a finger and doing business round-the- clock on autopilot even while they are asleep)
