New Delhi: The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has appointed new Governors for several Indian states. 

Kalraj Mishra who served as the Governor of Himachal has been transferred & appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. 

Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been appointed as Governor of Maharashtra, while Bandaru Dattatreya has been made the Governor of Himachal. 

Arif Mohammed Khan becomes the Governor of Kerala while Tamilisai Soundararajan has been made the Governor of Telangana.

BJP TN president Tamilisai Soundararajan appointed Governor of Telangana

Tamilisai has stated that her term as the state BJP chief ends in December, allowing her to take up the role of Governor.

In a surprise move, the Centre has appointed Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Tamilisai Soundrarajan as the Telangana Governor . Expressing gratitude to the BJP over the appointment, Tamilisai stated that her term as the state Chief ends in December, allowing her to take up the role of Governor.

This appointment comes along with the change of Governors in three other states - Kerala, Maharashtra and Himachal.

Tamilisai who is a doctor by profession, has served in the Tamil Nadu BJP unit in various capacities starting from the South Chennai District Medical Wing Secretary in 1999.

She was appointed as the chief of TN BJP in August 2014. A doctor by profession, Tamilisai is the daughter of Congress leader Kumari Ananthan. She also happens to be the niece of Congress MP H Vasanthakumar. Though she does not have an RSS background, Tamilisai had been one of the BJP's star campaigners during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, leading to her appointment as BJP chief. She was the state BJP's first woman president.

Tamilisai has unsuccessfully contested in two Assembly Elections and two Parliamentary Elections in the past. With her appointment as Telangana Governor, the floor is now thrown open for the next State BJP President.

Outgoing Telangana Governor

ESL Narasimhan was the first common Governor for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh after the state's bifurcation in. 2014. He had been serving as the Governor of erstwhile AP since 2009.

In July this year, he became the Governor of Telangana after Biswa Bhusan Harichandan took charge as the Governor for AP.

A retired IPS office, Narasimhan played a role in solving inter state issued after bifurcation. He also previously served as the Governor of Chhattisgarh in 2017 after serving as the director of the Intelligence Bureau

ESL Narasimhan kuda Tamilian eh ga... Offcourse he had close association with Telugu States had some years education and postings here and knows Telugu well so didn't make a difference.

New governors announced for five states; Kalraj Mishra transferred to Rajasthan, Arif Mohammed Khan gets Kerala

The Narendra Modi government on Sunday appointed senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra as the Governor of Rajasthan.

NEW DELHI: In a major reshuffle, President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday appointed new governors for five states based on the recommendations of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

According to a statement issued by President Ram Nath Kovind's office, BJP veteran Kalraj Mishra has now been transferred from Himachal Pradesh to Rajasthan, where he replaces Kalyan Singh as the new Governor. 

Bandaru Dattatreya replaces Kalraj Mishra in Himachal Pradesh.

 

Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the senior BJP leader from Uttarakhand, has been appointed the new Governor of Maharashtra shunting out Vidyasagar Rao. 

In Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan, who is known for his relentless crusade against triple talaq, replaced P Sathasivam as the new Governor. 

Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has been made the new governor of Telangana replacing ESL Narasimhan. 

The appointments take effect from the dates the new governors take charge of their respective offices.

Reacting to the development, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said, ''I am thankful to PM Narendra Modi as well as Home Minister Amit Shah. They have given this responsibility to me as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh& I will work as per the Constitution.''

On being appointed as the Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohd Khan said, ''It's an opportunity to serve. Fortunate to be born in a country like India which is so vast&rich in diversity. It's a great opportunity for me to know this part of India, which forms the boundary of India and is called God's own country.''
