FRANKFURT: The Indian Fest organized by the Indian Consulate in Germany witnessed a controversy when some North Indians came out protesting against the Kerala Samajam for serving beef dishes in the fest. The issue started when the North Indians noticed Porotta and Beef in the food menu of the fest.

Soon, several North Indians gathered and demanded to shut down the beef stall. This forced the Indian consulate to ask the Kerala Samajam to close the stall. However, several food enthusiasts intervened and informed the police about the incident. Upon reaching the place, the German police said that Germany does not forbid anyone from eating what they like. They also reportedly told the protestors that it is not their country to hold protest against the consumption of beef. Following this, the protestors dispersed.

The Malayali community in Germany have come up with criticism against the North Indians over the incident. Many social media users have taken up the issue as an invasion against the freedom of food

The protesters were stupid.

This was an Indian consulate sponsored one, NOT HINDU.

Since beef eating is part of Kerala and some other states, it was perfectly in line.

If these protesters wanted a fest with no beef, they should organize  their own with specific food items allowed.

Dumbest thing is doing it in Germany - Not our country, not our rules or culture.
