South Indian states receive far less than what they contribute when compared to Nothern states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan etc.

For example, every citizen of Karnataka and Tamil nadu pay about 19000 and 18500 rupees in taxes respectively, but they receive only 6300 and 6200 rupees in return.

That is because south indian states have worked hard and acheived their targets such as health, education etc. So Union will want to allocate less and less funds to these states.

So yes, south india will be paying for the north indians.

Moreover they controlled their population. This means they will have less people when compared to north India where people reproduce at a higher rate. So soon their representation in Union govt’s assembly will be reduced drastically. They will have even lower bargaining power.

The 1971 census was frozen as the base year before and has been used by ToRs of all Finance Commissions since 1976. This was done to ensure that states which had implemented effective population control measures, were not hurt during the allocations.

But the 15th Finance Commission has instead chosen to penalise these states for doing a better job. This means that states that have effectively controlled their population – like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala etc – will get less money than states that have failed to control their population, like Uttar Pradesh.

While south indians have no objection diverting funds for development, health care, infrastructure, they oppose diversion of funds to develop Hindi, funds to develop Sanskrit, funds to erect useless statues ,funds to build Temples etc. But this government is doing exactly these. Cow protection and other useless things can wait until northern states build schools and hospitals for all in the north . Small small irritations become big explosion . The southern states are being irked by this government day by day.

( In addition, south Indian states face the threat of their cultures being destroyed as the Union government tries to push Hindi and Vedic culture. )
