Regarding science and Engineering, Until 20 years back, there were lot of books in science and Engineering that were very prevalent in Telugu as well.

Go to any school in South India. Everything is English + Hindi.

Telugu is not even taught in a lot of schools. ALL parents are perfectly ok with this.

First Koreans have not adopted English.

It's not even a second language for them.

 

Second, scientific research is translated to different languages, even to Telugu.

Japanese research is published in Japanese only. It then is translated into English or other languages.

A Telugu guy publishes his research in English. It is then translated into Telugu.

japanese, chinese, korean also make it almost impossible to do business for foreigners in their regions. using their language is just one strategy towards this goal.
