Even brahmins eat beef in Kerala openly... Not preists..but regular caste 

Meat is main source of food for desert and dry land people like mighals Turks and ghazanis who invaded and ruled India.

 

We have adequate protein in terms of pulses and milk..

But still mighals never gave up eating meat and it slowly transmissited in to regular indian plate 

While kerlaa is different land..they where connected to gulf even during time of prophet. They even converted during project time while doing sea trade..so eat everything irrespective of their staple food
