More importantly why did lower class in India vote for Modi in such huge numbers.? and how come TN bucked the trend (inspite of being a deeply religious/casteist/racist society like every other society in India).

I think I finally found the answer. In that, trying to find the answer is impossible for our limited collective brains, and may be even futile. It means that there's nothing one(or a group) can do to influence people away from Modi. or even towards something else in any meaningful way.

However, there are a few pointers that could help us understand why callous/degenerate/incompetent losers can be attractive to the general population, while the same voters would baulk at their kids if they behaved like those losers that they enthusiastically vote for.

The key is understanding how the society functions. and the individual's place inside it. Even if societies claim to value attributes like freedom, valour, honour, and construct mythologies to transmit those values, those values don't manifest themselves in societies. In fact, explicitly ignoring those values keeps a society from descending into chaos.

This complicates the individual's understanding of his place in the society. because society itself ignores what it teaches. So the values it teaches become contextual, drawn from some meta realm that the mind listening to those stories conjures up, than simple binaries of right and wrong. society starts living and sharing that meta realm morally, because the original values are already lost.

a landlord is kind to his workers , while also not thinking twice before he decides to kill that guy who elopes with his daughter. his morals depend on the context. It is in this contextual world, that politics operates in - with a hammer.

Modi uses the hammer of Hindutva, while his opponents use secularism. both of them equally insincere, but one of them provides a way to access the meta realm (that people share because of the stories they share culturally), to feel a brotherhood at some level, while promising to make the metaphysical realm that the individual lives in morally, a  physical reality. A reality that will never come to pass, because both of them are contradictory. But to the mind, there is no contradiction.

This is why people vote for Modi. Its not because they hate muslims. Ofcourse, I am discounting the idiotic highly educated uppercaste scum who have constructed nightmares about muslims overwhelming them politically. They can all mob up and die tomorrow and it wouldn't change a thing.

How does one fight this? certainly not by talking about secularism which is a meaningless concept.

Rahul Gandhi should've hammered on with his ubi scheme of transferring 72k per year to poor households. expanded on how he would achieve it.

he announced it once, and never mentioned it again in his campaign (atleast based on reports). He should've mocked the upper middle class, and rich. stopped talking about secularism, and openly support both Hindus and muslims without using secularism.

that's the only way to defeat Modi. that is, if EVM management is handled from the other end ofcourse.
