where did that come from ?

If you're pregnant, you need to take a break in career and be judged for not working hard enough. Better to not have kids than that.

What if someone has to take a break and you become less competent than someone else who hasn't taken a break because you lost time? How is that fair?

Unable to spend time to prepare for the new career  as current job is more demanding.

you are not ready  like most of  people .. so dont take a RISK...at least prepare on you resume ..whats has been done till date wrt projects /personal strength

..  nobody gets time to improve while on job ...

if your skill is on high demand .. then 1 month could be more than sufficient . thats okay ..but what if you cant a break and lose confidence ...

totally upto you ... flight always takes of against the wind ..  :) some people do get offers while at job too  not a bad thing na

<<<<<<Hope I understand your Question clearly ... are you saying quitting job will be loss ... for job search ... ?

closing range to your goal means.... ...  opportunity cost...

No, my question is about my job. In my job, usually most places give you about 1 Million dollars to be spent in 5 years and with that you need to start a new lab, hire students and get anywhere between 2-3 Million in funding if you want to keep your job. Otherwise they will fire you. So, if you choose to have kids in this 5 years of time, you are wasting close to 1 year in having a kid, so you fall behind other people who don't have kids. So, how it is fair to take a break in your job and still have to perform equally or better than other people who don't have to go through what you're going through.
