Advantages of Privatizing Road transport:

Govt can dictate the terms and contract..

To improve Timings, Better quality Buses, (Electric May be) or Hybrid atleast)

Better sync up with other Transport Systems like Metro and Rail..for ease of Xfers..

ilantivi cheste..adoption pergutadi public transport ki..

Side Effects:

Lot of families loosing jobs, etc.. (solution might be to rehire them on Private contractor)

Rates initially might be high...but anyhow we are paying same now..

agree electric buses are the future and RTcs are so burdened with debt that the transition  to electric will be so painfully slow if we put the onus on them. The transition will be much faster  If we invite the private players.

the core function of RTC will be primarily to regulate the above 2 going forward and not just into maintaining it’s own buses

at some point we are talking greyhounds, city buses, govt buses using common public facilities like bus stops/stands, reservations systems and stick to the schedule assigned by RTc depot controllers. the permit to use RTc properties will come with a baggage of compliance matters
