News from sources:

The latest is that Durbin killed the UC route for good by his amendment.

Lee tried cutting deals with objectors but they are too many that he gave up on UC for the near future

 

 

So Lee and s386 supporters are running out of options that they are now desperate enough to ponder a floor vote. They are asking supporters to call their state senators to find a rough count on the number of senators willing to vote for the bill WITHOUT the Durbin amendment.

If they get 60 senators willing to say yes then they are planning to try to convince McConnell to file a motion to proceed.

But they need to discharge the Judiciary committee first.

So apparently they plan to convince Graham to push the bill through the committee by holding a vote for discharging the committee without a hearing. They need 12 out of 23 for such a vote.

Leaks says they are still far from 60.

 

 

This plan seems to be their last resort and more like a "Hail Mary" attempt.

Nenu appude cheppa Durbin amendments tarvata UC chance ledu ani.. Honestly this bill is as good as dead. It's better to drop this bill and start with another bill from scratch. Something that increases the quota from 7% to 30 or 40%. Any thing that says more than 50% is not getting through..
