Everyone probably already knows that there was an impeachment process in the Senate for the past few weeks. Nothing could be discussed or taken up by the Senate while impeachment process was underway. As the result, every issue/bill was put on hold in the Senate.

Now that Senate has concluded the impeachment process, every group for every other issue (not just immigration or S.386, but every issue/bill out there) is asking the Senate to give time to their bill, which is understandable.
So now, all the advocates who want to see Fairness bill pass, they will have to again raise their voices to increase the profile of our issues/bill, so that the Fairness bill gets the attention of the Senate.

I totally understand that many of the folks were calling earlier, and that now you don’t know where things stand. Impeachment process was like a reset button in the Senate, so now we again compete with other issues/bills by making phone calls, create noise etc., that is if we want to be heard. Which is why we all have the responsibility to do the heavy lifting if we want to increase the profile of the issue in the Senate so our bill again becomes a priority.

You see, since Senate is now back to normal function, this is the time to bring back your energy asking the Senate to pass the Fairness bill.

Passing a bill in Congress is not an event, it’s a process. And we have completed every step along the way to pass the bill. Now we need one final push in this process. And during this final push, we require the cumulative energy level created by all of us to be higher than the threshold energy required for the Senate to again prioritize our bill. That, and only that, will get the bill moving. There is no plan b or plan c. We all need this bill to pass. And at this time, it requires everyone to pick up that phone to help themselves with the published action items.

Even if you have never participated in any prior campaigns to pass the bill, this is the time to bring your energy to help yourself by passing the bill.
