you can come back to H1 anytime. some company needs to sponsor your H1 again but malli line(lottery) lo undalsina avasaram ledu. I asked my attorney about this a couple years back and this is what she said.

Also, nee patha company 140 revoke cheyakapothe you can use the same for future H1 extensions (this I think, not 100% sure).

Yeah first line is what I heard but the only doubt it... oka vela currently unna H1 appatiki expire aipothe will I still be cap exempt since I have a I140 which is 180 days or more older?

paatha company 140 revoke chesina cheyyakapoina ... if you are with them for 180 days after I140 approval, it wont affect ani vinna..

If you are still under 6years, then it doesn't matter. You can get back to you unused H1B at any time (meaning even after 2021).  You might get your approved H1B for the unused time. In order to extend your visa beyond 6 years, then you need to have approved 140.

If you are already over 6years rule and was on H1B extension due to approved I140, then you need to still have the approved I140 to transfer back to H1B from H4 at that time.

if u have already used 6 years and have I140, you can take a gap of upto 6 years to reapply for h1B.  My friend went to India and came back after 5 years.
