virus is non-living when it doesnt have a host to live on.....so it seeks a host to replicated

There is a PI who used to be at Rice and moved to UCSD. She is working on virus like nanoparticles based on plants for cancer immunotherapy.

No, it's a molecular biology technique to synthesize proteins and peptides. Basically since bacteria doesn't have RNA, we can use virus to manipulate bacteria to produce whatever we want them to produce. It's a great tool.
