When normal people like you accept it to trade using crypto currency or govt's accept projects and do transactions using crypto currency instead of dollars and gold.

The main problem is Govt's didnot figure out how to tax people owning crypto's. Many countries banned them.

The question is soo simple but the answer is soo complicated.

What do you want to do with them.

Though they are not controlled by central authority, they are actually controlled by group of companies who are also among top miners. They are not equivalent to physical currency yet. The question comes where you are going to use the Bitcoin or something else. For sure most of the financial organizations don't accept these coins rather they will invent their own coin.
