Quick way to get out of depression is to do some service activity.  You get depressed because you are thinking only about yourself along with the self-pity that goes with it.

Good thing about your situation is that you have identified that you are depressed and reaching out to others for help.  Not many are able to do that.

Anyways, go out and be useful to others by doing some service activities, else go out and take a good long nature walk.  Be with nature, watching the sunrise\sunset, etc...

Long term solution, go to a yoga retreat and learn a meditation technique and practice it regularly.

Hope and wish you get out of this situation soon, be happy and at peace.

Cheers!

first thing to do when one feel depressed, go out on travelling to south america and see the nature and world there, one can easily appreciate thee things you have and end up being grateful to the nature for everything

psychedelic retreat in chile would do wonders

psychedelics changes the behavior of default mode network in brain and change the way one thinks and this is observed to be long term effect with no addiction at all

check the johns hopkins psylicybin study, read rick strassman, terrence mckenna

the best connection to our culture is bhang, bhaang can reset the neural networks in brain resulting in avoiding thinking in loops

true, the brain in depression does not take the above solution as solution, thats why one need to develop 2 stage brain when healthy..develop a brain of perception vs practical.. it will help to avoid depression in later age..you wont even get into such depression if you reach your brain to adapt and see the reality

read this, most of the cancer patients live longer than expected and their outlook changed totally

https://maps.org/other-psychedelic-research/211-psilocybin-research/psilocybin-studies-in-progress/1268-johns_hopkins_study_of_psilocybin_in_cancer_patients

the only reason why psychedelics are still controlled is due to fact that one doesnt need to use them like pharma and not profitable for Big P

Summary: This study showed that psilocybin produced substantial and sustained decreases in depression and anxiety in patients with life-threatening cancer, and that mystical-type experiences on session days mediated the effect of psilocybin dose on therapeutic outcomes. Participants, staff, and community observers rated participant moods, attitudes, and behaviors throughout the study. High-dose psilocybin produced large decreases in clinician- and self-rated measures of depressed mood and anxiety, along with increases in quality of life, life meaning, and optimism, and decreases in death anxiety. At 6-month follow-up, these changes were sustained, with about 80% of participants continuing to show clinically significant decreases in depressed mood and anxiety. Study participants attributed improvements in attitudes about life/self, mood, relationships, and spirituality to the high-dose experience, with >80% endorsing moderately or greater increased well-being/life satisfaction, which was further supported by community observer ratings showing corresponding change

the point i am trying to make is "its all in the mind" , one can only change and put them in right path as long one loves himself the most

the moment you place your priorities on others/wealth/job..you no longer are willing to learn about yourselves.. resulting in dissatisfaction coming from outside, the world should always be inside out ..not outside in
