November 26th Constitution Day: All you need to know

The Constitution of India was adopted on November 26, 1949, an important landmark in the country's journey as an independent, sovereign republic. The constitution came into force on January 26, 1950. 

Constitution Day was first celebrated four years ago in 2015, when the government decided to mark the day as a tribute to BR Ambedkar, who played an important role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. The constitution day is also known as the samvidhan divas.

The BJP led Government in 2015 declared 26 November as Constitution Day by a gazette notification on 19 November. 

The Constitution Day was first celebrated in 2015 as a mark of tribute to India's first law minister Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Constitution. The declaration regarding the same was made by PM Narendra Modi on October 11, 2015, while laying the foundation stone of Statue of Equality in Mumbai.
