Do's and Don'ts for women by Telangana Police

Cops suggest do's and don'ts to women!

Whenever an incident of sexual offence on a woman takes place, there are people who always try to find fault with the victims, rather than the accused.

We have seen instances in the past when some people blamed it on the dressing of women, their movement on roads during nights and their habits for the atrocities against the women. But not many people would ask why men roam around streets in drunken state even after midnight.

Even Telangana home minister Mohd Mahmud Ali tried to find fault with the veterinary doctor who was raped and murdered four days ago on the outskirts of Hyderabad, saying she should have called the police by dialling 100, instead of talking to her sister for nearly 30 minutes.

As if it is not enough, Hyderabad police also issued an advisory to women and girls while travelling late in the nights.

The police commissioner, in the advisory, said a woman before travelling should tell her family or close relative or friend where she was going and when she would be back.

He also suggested that she should share the last location if possible. If she is travelling in a taxi or auto, she should share the picture of the number plate, contact details (written on the backside of the auto driver seat and on ID card of the taxi driver).

The other do’s and don’ts suggested by him are:

1. Get to know about the route if going to an unfamiliar place

2. Always wait in crowded areas and in illuminated areas. Not in isolated areas . Never hesitate in giving signal to police patrol cars  or Blue colt police motorcycles in the area for help . They are for your safety and security .

3. If there is no persons visible around, you should walk to nearest shop, commercial unit and stand very close to it, so moving traffic can easily observe you.

4. Always be ready to all Dial 100.

5. Download hawk eye and put the location services on at all times.

6. In suspicious circumstances, pls ask help from passengers.

7. If there are no passengers or passer byes, act like you are talking to your relative on phone who is a police and share all the details of place and vehicles and people around you, this will scare them.

8. Be confident and talk loud when confronted. Shout for help if situation requires.

9. If you are in a helpless situation, pls shout and run towards crowded area.

Though they all appear to be notified in the best interests of the woman, they clearly indicate that a woman has no freedom to travel wherever she wants, unlike a man and should always be in a constant fear of being haunted and sexually assaulted by men. It also shows how bad the law and order situation in Telangana is!

TWITTER RESPONSE

A 14-point "advisory" issued by Hyderabad Police for women before they ventured out of home drew angry responses from a section of Twitter users on Monday.

One safety tip asked women to share their last location with family members, telling family members and relatives where they were going and when they would return. The women were also advised to wait for cabs or family members for picking them up in illuminated and crowded areas only.

A user posted a furious response: "Dear Hyderabad Police, what advisory have you issued to the male section of the society??"

Another response read: "Commandments for women????? What society, what country are we living in? Such a disgrace for India... globally! One big pointer for policemen and those with sick mentality... Get yourself treated!"

One user posted: "When Hyderabad Police is asking everything to be done by women, then in case of any mishappening they should also allow women to punish offenders."

A Twitter user said: "The advisory issued by Hyderabad Police is literally prisoned (read, imprisoned) women... not even a single advisory for the behaviour of morons who roam around women with malicious intentions."

A female Twitter user remarked that the advisory was a "joke". "Instead, make a law that men will not be allowed out on the streets after 8pm. No need for police either! This will ensure the safety of women," she posted.

this is reminding people (not only girls..even for men...and boys)..

all they are saying is, if u feel scared, alone or sense some harm, just follow the safety precautions .

better than running into trouble and getting harmed...

people in india sometime act hastily and run into trouble..we need to avoid that and above guidelines can help..

and coming to Police yeah they need to accept the case and act irrespective of location and region mainly in the case of women, and children..

i think the ZERO FIR concept is similar to that..hope the implement all over india..

what do you think govt and police can do better?

its people who need to change all the things which are incorrect with in society .. yedho jariginapudu certain things need to be changesd ani aravadam tappa yedina chestunara .. all over country agitations cheyakunda electiosn time lo mass boycot chesi leaders ni certain basic things lo change tesukosthene we  will elect ane stage ki tesukochi changes implement cheyinchukunte these things will automatically will cut down kadha ....

ela chesi champaru ani anadaru badha padutunaru .. but i think there will be girls or women who are into marriage or prostitution and getting more pain then her .. vallaki yevaru support cheyaru ... mee street lo if wife and husband has some issue or teenager doing something incorrect or things which might impact his life in future  langivi jariginapudu ... as colony or society lo meeku or mee intlo vallu kuda chepaleni situation lo govt or police yenni changes tesukonichin nothing will change ...

as other post being circulated in social media there were many incidents recently where girls are raped / murdered / cut into pieces. So annitlo rani kopampaavesham .. yee incident lo ravadaniki reason mass hysteria laaga andaru join iavadme tappa .. similar situation lo iyyo ani anipinchina yevaru eami matladukovadam ledhu ani calm ga vundippotunaru .. ofcorusethere were other factors too for this incident is ammaye educated or living ni city or good background or certain casts etc might even have triggered it to become for such huge agitation too apart from gangrape .. murder etc...

lastly .. yevarina safety chepedhi ledha nuvu annatu freedom ni tokesedhi .. vallu baagundalene kaani vallani bandinchi veelu bagupadalani kadhu kadhu .... when you are into a jungle .. you need to take care of yourselfs if all needed precautions kaani jumgle ni clean sweep chesta ante i dont think it can be implemented practically ...  we have proves that such or even more drastic incidents happened in age old, in past present and can expect the same in future ...

we never know who will act different under different circumstances ... so better to be prepared for everything ..
