Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in Paris for their first face-to-face talks in an attempt to end a conflict that has lasted over five years involving Ukrainian government forces and separatist rebels backed by Russia. The series of meetings was mediated by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Élysée Palace.
