It takes a lot more effort for someone with a backward social status than a person who is privileged. We fail to understand the consequences of this, because someone who put in so much effort to perform similar to a privileged person is bound to outperform that person if they had the same oppurtunities.

You don't need to benefit from reservation to know the consequences of it.

You can think so, but like I said I never benefited from the Indian reservation system. In fact I used to oppose reservation untill I was in India. I only understood the advantage of affirmative action after teaching in socially backward places.
