India grants citizenship only based on blood, not based on birth.

so u are okay with millions of labourers losing citizenship because their fathers were too stupid to get themselves a birth certificate?

u are so sure they are all not indian.

That is not for new people though ...

Citizenship of India by naturalization can be acquired by a foreigner (not illegal migrant) who is ordinarily resident in India for TWELVE YEARS (throughout the period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of application and for ELEVEN YEARS in the aggregate in the FOURTEEN YEARS preceding the twelve months)

Like I said, the Government needs to tweek something to make it work, but it's a shame if they don't have a National Registration of Citizens.

I support NRC because the registration needs to be done sometime or the other. If someone is unable to produce documentation, they need to figure it out or the Government has to tweek something to make it work. Because for a country that's 70 years old, it's a shame that they don't have a National Registration of Citizens.

I don't support CAB because it is preferential in whom it grants fast-track citizenship, to appease their electoral pallettes.

registration if it has to be done, has to take into the reality of situations people live in.. not force them to all to come up with documents they might not have.

lots of countries don'ot have registries of citizens. aadhar is a good enough substitute already, and even without aadhar there are plenty of documents to prove u are indian citizen.

Good, something ‘arbitrary’ to ‘make it work’. People wouldn’t protest if they made it clear what the plan was..

why exactly is this a priority now? lots of countries don't have citizenship registries. canada doesn't. most european nations don't.

NRC came out of demand in Assam. Nobody in India asked for it.

anyway believe what u want to. bye

Why is that a good thing though? It would mean the Government has to give freebies to more people than it needs to. What is the point of giving freebies to more people than you need to? If they have a better database, and link it to their income, they can figure out who are getting freebies and if they deserve to get it.

Or they can use that database to control and torture them..

stop talking trash.

all the research u do, for future commercial products is worth nothing, if people don't have the money to buy it.

yeah, freebies is one of the way to keep the economy running. otherwise capitalism will collapse under its own weight.

Its even okay to give freebies to refugees, because they also become part of the economy when they start working. and by all accounts immigrants work in vastly higher degree than natives. especially unskilled ones.

Would you want your tax money to feed the people that are in India illegally is the question. Now I agree that some part of the legality is not defined very well in some instances, but the efforts towards NRC is the right step forward.
