To get a spot in the airport and to get passengers depends on the time slot... Which is auctioned and sold to air companies...

There are some time slots which producess high revenue and some slots cannot generate the minimum amount.... 

Most of our air India planes are run in awkward time slots .. 

On contrary to slots, Air India actually enjoys prime time slots at all major international airports...Heathrow, JFK,Middle East, Toronto Pearson, Sydney,Singapore and Narita etc, Air India has prime landing slots and than any other Indian airline..

Being a national carrier, Air India always had the advantage in terms of weekly seats and prime slots. 

This is how it works, slots and seats are exchanged equally between two countries, for example if there are weekly 100 seats available , both the countries get 500 seats each equally and so are the slots, once the seats and slots allotted to a country, they will either allot or re-tender these capacity/slots as revenue model. 

If Jet Airways or Air India gets 250 seats each and have two slots available at London heathrow, the prime time slot will more or less go to Air India because of its status as a national carrier and government owned than Jet Airways which is privately held..

Most of the population is traveling from India they should have tapped them instead people are using other airlines

If there is no occupancy one can understand but with so many people travelling from India they can easily maintain it well

government should quit from any kind of services industry. I know with air india they are caught between a rock and a hard place.

they should bite some losses end this turmoil forever. also no other Indian carrier is well connected internationally. the best way out would be someone like TATA taking over and for that to happen Government has to eat up atleast 50k crores in losses
