Earlier, the Ukrainian embassy said the plane crashed due to an engine failure

A Ukraine-bound Boeing 737 jet carrying 176 people crashed in Iran shortly after take-off. The majority of passengers onboard were from Iran and Canada, according to Ukraine’s foreign minister.
