Boeing already paid compensation for both American Airlines and Southwest for not able to deliver the planes and both Airlines announced bonus to employees. It’s not worth it to pursue this failed design and make it work again.

MAX Flight Schedule Revision: April 14 – June 6, 2020

Southwest Airlines continues to monitor information from Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the impending 737 MAX software enhancements and training requirements. We remain confident that, once certified by the FAA, the enhancements will support the safe operation of the MAX.

We previously removed the MAX through April 13, 2020 to offer reliability to our operation and stability for our Customers. Based on continued uncertainty around the timing of MAX return to service, the Company is proactively removing the MAX from its flight schedule through June 6, 2020.

By proactively removing the MAX from scheduled service, we can reduce last-minute flight cancellations and unexpected disruptions to our Customers’ travel plans. The limited number of Customers who have already booked their travel and will be affected by our amended schedule will be notified of their re-accommodated travel according to our flexible accommodation procedures. The revision will proactively remove roughly 330 weekday flights from our schedule out of our total peak-day schedule of more than 4,000 daily flights.

We offer our apologies to our Customers impacted by this change, and we thank them for their continued patience.

Southwest made this announcement a week back, Southwest is still waiting on this till mid 2020, I mean southwest still didnt loose hopes on 737 MAX

American flies older 737s but has had to curb its growth for the year because of the Max grounding. American in October forecast the Max grounding would cost it $540 million in pretax income in 2019. The full financial toll on airlines isn’t yet known because it’s not clear when the planes will fly again. American and Southwest removed the planes from their schedules until April, while United pulled them until early June.

This is what I am trying to say

There is 20 minute video on NOVA PVS on what may have went wrong with 737 Max...It may still be the software problem as initially thought it it could be engine problem, the new engines may not be perfectly suitable for the size..

MAX have been in the service for almost 4 years now and if it is design fault or software fault , how could MAX has been flying safely for the first three years and why only two crashes ?

plane's landing gear isnt tall enough to support the size of the engines... aa newer engines mounting ki the plane needs to be higher from the ground, which means longer landing gear which will change the whole design... which means the plane has to go through new certification and they cant use the same certification as the old 737 or 737 NG which is from the the 70s...
