okay. santhosham. I agree that periyar worship goes overboard in a lot of times. but its nothing compared to some other religious institutional leaders.  inspite of the crap they constantly utter.

Periyar married his adopted daughter because he couldn't transfer his property to her without it. He fought for laws that allow women to bequeath father's property.

but this line of defense of periyar is not acceptable. He didn't really have to select his successor, unless he himself didn't follow what he said.He should have let the organization select their leader after him.. unless he was not confident he actually built a rational organization.

it is his failure.
