Question: OCI renewal needed for US born kid after renewing passport?

Guys, quick question. My sister and nephew(5 years age) are traveling to India next month. My nephew recently renewed his US passport as they issue passport only for 5 years for kids under 20. His OCI card is still the same that he got when he was 1 year age. Now people are saying that the OCI card also has to be renewed in order to travel. Is this true? Please let me know.

Yes,  u have to renew OCi every time the passport is renewed

That is true but New York indian consulate issued some exception saying they can allow that until 2020 June or something like that ..somewhere I saw..

Their flight is next Monday so only one week left. Can they travel using the old passport, new passport and old OCI card

U need to apply new OCI. 
 

old OCI likely to have US’s old pspt expiry date, so ur OCI will also be expired. 
 

U won’t get in this short time, go for arrival on visa.

Carry old and new passport and oci card that should be fine..few of my friends did this recently they were fine..

Yes u can travel if u carry

old passport + new passport + oci card

 

But make sure to update the kids oci card with new passport by june 2020. This is the new grace period extended.
