Thanks for the video. I used to predict with my MBA friends in whatsapp groups that GST will be a disaster . And they used to give this gyan about lorries going smoothly in state borders, self regulation blah blah.

Some things are simple in India.

1) Central government is MOST incompetent. Also its MOST immoral. whatever it touches it destroys values - Air India, Indian railways, the joke called supreme court, Indian army which cant keep peace in kashmir where as both state polices of Punjab and Andhra solved khalistan and naxal problems

2) The best ways for prosperity of indian people is to reduce, reduce and reduce the control of central government. Complete elimiation is also not a problem.

3) Most of central govt spending is on cruel and immoral stuff - rapiing kashmiri women, blinding their children almost 20 percent of budget goes to military half of which is tied to kashmir. Then there is additional budget to central police, bsf etc which is used to jail grand mothers and grand fathers in internment camps in assam. Why ? why should states fund this incompetent entity ?

4) Solution - all tax including income tax will be collected by states. Then it is states which will give central as required for defense or anything else. Center has to justify every expense and provide Utilization Certificates to state councils.

GST is to transfer state tax to the center, duh!

GST was created to make states dependent. Congress the instigator. Modi took this drama to a new level with a midnight parliament session.

how disgusting these jokers are. yuck.

In a country like India, we cannot have monetory control with the states.

States collecting tax and distributing it to central will be perfect recipe for disaster, we can witness a venezeula or zimbabwe situation in India.

For example, when ever there are elections in the state, the sitting government will completely use the tax colelcted funds to fund the welfare and strategic programs there by depleting the tax collections and will hand over empty coffins. This will be a grave situation especially for Central government to run the nation, especially defense spending other strategic improtant public spending programs. The states will try to find a legal obligation not to pay a part of the taxes for the Union...

This is nothing less than stupidity to think of empowered states to collect taxes and share it with the Unions.

Stupidity would happen if it happens the other way. I understand your ideology of empowered states and a dummy Union but in a country like India, it would not be successful.

In my view, The Union should take of federal and pan India subjects including defense and monetary decisions and states should look into welfare...

VAT had serious compliance issues. states were not having the resources to collect VAT beyond the obvious petrol VAT.

GST is supposed to give them tools to regularize this tax collection and simplify it for the payer too. Fine enough. But it took half of the revenue to the center. The states should be compensated by letting them keep half of income taxes generated in their area too, and then let center distribute the other half. Or allow states to tax income from personal and corporates.

Bullshit national sloganeering is blinding people to the realities of administration. All states are now scaling back on their budgets because there's a serious deficit in tax collection.

Not to mention taxing exports, and not processing returns for over an year. what a sh1tshow this is.

Ths govt is full of morons, and is for morons.
