If you are a market maker it is not risky as long as you manage the deltas. In fact most options trading firms make money by selling them and the profits run into hundreds of millions of dollars for them.Normal people can’t be market makers so yeah.

Market making companies lo they monitor the deltas ( and other Greeks) of the options. Delta vary ayyekoddi they buy or sell other derivatives/stocks depending on the market conditions. They do it throughout the day nonstop.
